Sister to the Night

Friday, December 14

After sundown and before sunrise
The queen of 10,000 moons arrives
Oshun and Yemaya powers would collide
Creating me sister to the night
I’m blues in the left side of your membrane
Trying to become the funk in your right
Kissing you as though I could forge the signature of the sun
Planting kisses on your body like seeds, so you’ll grow to love yourself as much as I love you
Elope my thighs into the suction of flee for union
Runaway spouses complying with delusion
Sprinting through the evergreens, diving in the waters
I grew weeds around your soul entwining with your veins and invading in your dreams
Like paradise I latched onto you and sucked away everything that once was solitary
Climb up my ladder I can take you to the sun discover my soul
Take a flight to the moon where my mind unfolds
My chin moving like good sex when I spoke
A rotation of metaphors
And a stroke of similes
Orgasmic explosions of poetic creativity
If someone asked me where was home
I would think of the stars on the tip of your tongue
The way you kissed me questions and would ask me again with your eyes
Peering into my naked soul undressing my thoughts
As well as my body nude like the personification of a poem written in mocha colored ink
The flowers sprouting through your mouth
The roots entwined in the gaps between your fingers
Always answering with my fingers trailing reasons down your spine
The ocean echoing inside your ribcage
Discovering the theory beneath your knees and a postulate in that sweet spot on your neck
The queen of 10,000 moons arrived
Oshun and Yemaya powers have collided
Creating me sister to the night
I’m blues in the left side of your membrane
Trying to become the funk in your right
Can I?
Can I?
May I?
